ππ¦οΈ#StudyTuesdays |Β The World Meteorological Organization's World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) is inviting abstracts for its 2027 conference, themed Advancing Weather Science for Resilient Societies. It's a strong opening for African researchers to put their work on a global stage.
π What it's about
The conference covers the full chain of weather science. That runs from observing the skies and the communities beneath them, to predicting what's coming, to making sure people are ready to act on warnings.
π Submit under one of three themes:
π Observing physical and societal systems
π Weather prediction and predictability
π‘οΈ Societal preparedness, including impact-based warnings
π Strong fit if you are:
β An early-career scientist or professional
β A researcher or practitioner from a developing or least-developed country
β Part of an interdisciplinary team linking science, operations and society
π IMVELO Impact :A flood warning that reaches a farmer in time, or a heatwave forecast that shapes a city's plans, is resilience built on science. When African researchers are in these rooms, early warning systems are designed around our communities. So are the jobs, businesses and innovation that grow up around them.
