🌳 #FundingWednesdays | Kenya's State Department for Agriculture is inviting consulting firms to express interest in baseline studies on deforestation, wetlands, riparian ecosystems and groundwater, under the IFAD-funded Integrated Natural Resources Management Programme (INReMP).
🌍 Why it matters: You can't protect what you haven't measured. These baselines will show where forests, wetlands and riverbanks stand today, and create the monitoring system that tracks whether restoration is working.
💼 The assignment (120 days):
🛰️ Map and analyse forest cover, wetlands and riparian zones using geospatial tools
💧 Assess groundwater potential
🔍 Verify findings in the field
🗂️ Build a spatial database for the programme area
📊 Prepare a Natural Resources Monitoring Framework
📋 Strong fit if your firm:
✅ Has been legally registered and operating for at least 10 years
✅ Has experience in natural resource assessments, GIS and remote sensing, or ecosystem monitoring
✅ Holds a valid tax compliance certificate (Kenyan firms from KRA; foreign firms from their home tax authority)
✅ Can partner through a joint venture or sub-consultancy if needed
💚 IMVELO Impact: Forests, wetlands and riverbanks are Kenya's natural water towers and flood buffers. Good baseline data is what turns restoration from good intentions into measurable results.
