๐ฐ๐ #FundingWednesdays: What if proven environmental solutions could go further?
Across Africa, communities and civil society organisations are already developing solutions to some of the continentโs biggest environmental challenges. But good ideas need more than recognition. They need funding to scale.
The GEF SGP CSO Challenge Program, supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and IUCN, is offering eligible civil society organisations the opportunity to secure up to USD 300,000 in direct grant funding to scale or replicate high-impact environmental solutions.
The programme is looking for existing work - not just concepts -across five areas:
๐ฟ Community-based management of threatened ecosystems & species
๐พ Sustainable agriculture, fisheries & food security
โก Low-carbon energy access
โป๏ธ Chemicals & waste management
๐๏ธ Sustainable urban solutions
Beyond funding, selected organisations can receive tailored technical support, capacity building, mentoring and opportunities to build partnerships and share their work.
๐ IMVELO Impact: Africa's Green Economy will not be built through ideas alone. Scaling solutions that already work can help communities strengthen livelihoods, protect ecosystems, build climate resilience and create more sustainable economies.
๐ Deadline: 15 September 2026
๐ฐ Funding: Up to USD 300,000
๐ Open to eligible CSOs in developing countries/economies in transition
