Looking to take your doctoral research to Switzerland?
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are returning for the 2027–2028 academic year, offering outstanding early-career researchers from 54 African countries the opportunity to undertake a fully funded one-year research placement at a Swiss university or recognized research institution.
The programme is open to PhD candidates and young medical doctors from all academic disciplines, with applications opening 20 August 2026. Preference is given to applicants who have not previously studied or conducted research in Switzerland.
