🌊 #FundingWednesdays | The Gambia's Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources is looking for a firm to train National Environment Agency staff in coastal zone management, under the World Bank-funded West Africa Coastal Areas Resilience Investment Project 2 (WACA ResIP 2).
🌍 Why it matters: Coastal erosion, flooding and competing land uses are putting growing pressure on The Gambia's coastline. This training will equip about 25 National Environment Agency staff to plan, monitor and protect the coast more effectively.
💼 The training will cover:
🏖️ Integrated coastal zone management: coastal planning, zoning, permitting, and climate and erosion risks
📊 Monitoring and evaluation: environmental indicators, baselines, data management and compliance monitoring
🛰️ GIS and remote sensing for mapping coastal risks, land-use change and ecosystem health
📋 Action planning, including practical procedures the agency can put to work straight away
📋 Strong fit if your firm has:
✅ At least 3 comparable capacity-building assignments in coastal management, M&E or environmental management
✅ At least 2 assignments with government or environmental agencies
✅ A team of at least 4 experts covering coastal management, M&E, GIS and remote sensing, and environmental law and governance
✅ Experience in West Africa or a similar coastal developing country
⭐ A team leader with a master's degree and 10+ years of experience, including 5+ in coastal management
💚 IMVELO Impact: Strong institutions are the backbone of climate resilience. Training the people who plan, permit and monitor coastal development helps protect The Gambia's beaches, wetlands and coastal communities as sea levels rise and storms intensify.
📍 Location: The Gambia
👥 Open to: National and international firms
⏰ Deadline: 21 October 2026
